Dalmatiner von House Illyria

About Us

In 2021, my lifelong dream of having a Dalmatian came true when my partner and I welcomed Zelda into our home at just nine weeks old. From day one, she brought a spark to our lives — curious, clever, full of energy, and quickly an inseparable part of our daily routine.

She joins us on city strolls, visits with friends, office days, and road trips — including one all the way to Greece and back. But more than anywhere, she’s happiest out in the forest at our side, tail wagging, nose down, soaking in the world around her.

As our love for her grew, so did a deeper interest. With a background in biology and professional experience in plant breeding, I became increasingly drawn to the world of genetics and how thoughtful breeding can contribute to healthier, more resilient populations — not just in plants, but in animals too.

That curiosity led to a purpose: to play a small part in supporting the genetic diversity and health of the Dalmatian breed, especially in Europe where the gene pool is relatively narrow.

And so, House Illyria was born — a family-driven, heart-led breeding project grounded in science, compassion, and love. Our goal is to raise healthy, confident, and well-socialized Dalmatians who bring joy to their new families, just as Zelda has brought into ours.

Breeding Goal

My breeding goal is to promote the health and temperament of Dalmatians by prioritizing genetic diversity and integrating innovative breeding approaches such as LUA, while always maintaining the breed standard’s integrity. I emphasize thorough genetic health screening and DLA typing, alongside dedicated socialization, to raise loving, well-adjusted family companions.

As a member of the Club for Dalmatian Friends (CDF) and DZGD, I breed according to the guidelines of the VDH and FCI.
